Who We Are
Rural Resource Coalition of SC is an alliance of leaders from housing, agriculture, community economic development, conservation, forestry and tourism working on behalf of all South Carolina’s residents to strengthen the state’s rural communities. Our goal is to advance policy for sustainable rural economic development, promote rural natural resources, and grow grassroots efforts to support rural prosperity. The coalition welcomes organizations, businesses, state agencies and individuals to join us.
History
The Rural Resource Coalition SC (RRCSC) was establish in 2009 by representatives from six (6) industry sectors, housing, agriculture, community development, conservation, forestry and tourism. The RRC members recognized the need for a united effort focused on sustainable economic development in rural communities. With emphasis on wealth creation from within rural community’s members has worked to create a stronger economy through local food systems networks, local tourism and rural broadband access.
Our Mission
Our mission is to capitalize on South Carolina’s human and natural resources in order to improve the quality of life for all her citizens by promoting sustainable economic development in rural communities and wise stewardship of her land and water.
